Goldenseal (Hydrastis canadensis )-Medicinal herb plant.Blooms in April and has red seed pod on one leaf in late June to July.Root is bright yellow.Goldenseal grows to a height of twelve to sixteen inches. Goldenseal is a good companion plant for ginseng. In my experience when grown in close proxemity to goldenseal in the shade garden ginseng seems to stay healthier. 10 for $25.00
Yellow Lady's Slipper (Cypripedium pubescens)-These are becoming rare in the wild. They are large, blooming size specimens. Some may produce two yellow orchid flowers per stem. Lady's Slipper grows best in moist but well drained soil rich in organic material but can be grown in dryer soil.Lady's Slipper requires a symbiotic fungi to be present in the soil in order to propagate by seed. The Yellow Lady's Slipper is the easiest of all the slipper orchids to grow in the home shade garden. They are hardy plants! $35.00 ea.
Trillium (Trillium grandiflorum)-Produces a large white flower in April, changing to pink as the flower ages. Very showy and easily grown in your home shade garden- $10.00 ea.
Trillium (Trillium erectum)-Blooms in a variety of colors from red, maroon, pink, pale yellow and sometimes white. Grows best in rich moist areas-blooming in April- $10.00 ea.
Wild Geranium (Geranium maculatum)-Has Lavender/Purple flowers between April and June. Blooms best in areas that receive morning sun, then partial shade- $8.00 ea.
Puttyroot Orchid (Aplectrum hyemale)-The flowers of the puttyroot orchid are purplish-green to yellow with a white lip spotted with purple arranged in a narrow cluster on a leafless stalk from 1 to 2 ft. in height. The single leaf of this orchid is dark green with pale stripes from 4 to 6 in. long. The leaf begins to grow in the fall and persist until the flower stalk develops and then disappears in May or June. This orchid grows best in rich well drained soil. $12.00 ea.
White Clintonia (Clintonia umbellata)-Blooms late spring to early summer. Flowers are white in an umbel at the top of a single stem. It arises in the middle of three or four dark green leaves that are about ten inches long. Both leaves and stem arise directly from an underground root. Flowers are followed by round, black or blue berries in fall. $8.00 ea.
Black Cohosh (Cimicifuga racemosa)-These have a white plume of flowers at the top of a long stem that can be up to six feet or more. Folage is in the form of compound leaves on a three-forked stem from two to four feet tall. Root has many medicinal uses. Black Cohosh is best used as a background or border plant in your shade garden. Blooms between June and September. $8.00 ea.
Ginseng (Panax quinquefolium)-Wild simulated; Grown under the same conditions as found in nature. Roots are seed bearing age. Seed pod is crimsom red between mid-August and late-September. Ginseng grows best on northeast facing slopes with well drained soil rich in organic material.Limited supply. Fall Shipment Only. $12.00 ea.
Pink Lady's Slipper ( Cypripedium acaule) Blooms in May to early June. Orchid is from pale to dark pink. Grows to a height of 10 to 15 inches. Must be planted in well drained, high acid soil. Limited supply.Fall Shipment Only. $35.00 ea.
Great Solomon's Seal (Polygonatum canaliculatum)-Has a tall arching stem from three to six feet. Flowers are bell shaped greenish-white hanging beneath the stem in May and June changing to blue-black berries. $9.00 ea.
Fairy-wand (Chamaelirium luteum)- This plant is also called Devil's-Bit. It's leaves are in a rosette at the base of a 3ft. stem. It has a long slender cluster of white flowers on the end of the stem between April and June.Grows best in rich well drained soil. $10.00 ea.
Downy Rattlesnake Plantain (Goodyera pubescens) This orchid has a long cluster of small white flowers at the top of downy stem from 6 to 18 inches tall. The leaves are dark green with white veins. Blooms in July and August. $12.00 ea.

All plants should be planted in your shade garden as soon as they are received and not allowed to dry out. If there is any delay in planting, keep roots in the bottom of your refrigerator. Do not allow to freeze or hold more than a few days before planting in a permanent location. All plants listed on this page grow best in zones 3 thru 7 and require a winter dormancy period.
